Billie Hugh Huntley, age 76 of Athens, Ohio, formerly of Ashland, Oregon, passed away on March 7, 2007 at his home. Born August 3, 1930 in Portland, Oregon, he graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, where he played football then served in the Marine Corps. He received special honors for his marksmanship. He completed his Master of Education and taught in elementary schools Portland and San Leandro, CA for over 25 years. A passionate environmentalist, he led Sierra Club trips for over 20 years. In 1985 he and his wife Barbara established Country Willows Bed and Breakfast in Ashland, OR. Upon retiring he enjoyed traveling, golf, skiing, hiking and other outdoor activities.
 
He is survived by his wife Barbara, of Athens, OH, son, Carl Huntley of Castro Valley, CA and step-daughters Laura Pratt (Crenson) of Athens, OH, Kimberly Jordan (Terry) of Columbus, OH, and Dana Grollman (Michael) of Redondo Beach, CA and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Huntley and Lee Huntley.
 
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 7, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church Siskiyou/Walker, Ashland, OR at 11:00 am.
