THE PLAINS - Cathy DeWeese-Wakeland, 57, of The Plains, died Sunday morning, June 14, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born June 1, 1952 in Athens, she was the daughter of Murven A. and Rosalee E. Metcalf DeWeese. She was a lifetime member and past president of both The Post 7174 VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the DAV Auxiliary. Also, she was a member and past president of the ATHENS -mblem Club 165, and was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 175. She was employed with McBeechr(39)s for 36 years, and currently was employed with the Senior Employment Center. Besides her parents, she is survived by a sister, Susan Tudor of The Plains; a niece, Scarlett Tudor of The Plains; sister-in-law, Dorothy DeWeese of The Plains; two nephews, Stephen DeWeese of Cleveland, and Joshua DeWeese of Columbus; special aunts and uncles, David (Susie) Douglas of Grove City and Buzz (Mary) Evans of Mansfield; and her very proctective companion, Rusty, her dog. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Wakeland, and her brother, Kerry DeWeese. Services will be Thursday at 1 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Timothy Waugh officiating. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where an emblem service will be conducted at 6 PM.
