NELSONVILLE - Helen I. Alton, 87, of Nelsonville, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at her home. Born July 19, 1923 in Fairfield County, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Cora Waites Christy. She was a graduate of Amanda-Clear Creek High School and a member of the Ladies Auxilary of The Plains VFW Post 7174 and a member of the Chauncey Church of God. Helen was a wonderful mother and a good homemaker. She is survived by two children, Gary Alton of Nelsonville, Debra (Mark) Talbott of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren, Connie Marie (Brent) Sipe, Tina Marie Able, Harold (Jackie) Cullison, Carla Sue Cullison, Roberta (Scott) Greene, Dennis (Amy) Kish; 14 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; a sister, Freda Weidner of Columbus; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Harold Alton in 1999; a daughter, Sharon Marie Cullison in 2009; two brothers, Denver and John Christy; two sisters, Elsie Hunt, and Gladys Shumaker. Services will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Larry Swart officiating. Burial will be in ATHENS -emory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8 PM. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Appalachian Visiting Nurses, 30 Herrold Avenue, Athens, Ohio 45701.
