MILLFIELD - Anna D. Oberknoz Baum Bircher, 91, of Millfield died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at her home. Born August 12, 1919 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Otto Martin and Frieda Anna Hertline Oberkonz. She graduated from Central High School in Columbus. Ann was the loving caring mother of five children, Richard "Dick& (Sandy Baum of Hartford, Michigan, Carol Baum (John) Bircher of Millfield, Janet Baum (Jim) McCoy of Millfield, Tom (Patty) Baum of Antwerp, Diane "Debbie& Baum (Steve) McCoy of Millfield; five step children, Paul (Mae) Bircher of Millfield, Ralph Bircher of Laurelville, John (Carol) Bircher of Millfield, Linda Bircher (Robert) Oberkonz of Winter Haven, Florida, Ann Marie Baum (Bill) Holt of Columbus; Ann was also the grandmother of 11 including a special relationship with her granddaughter, Shirley Bircher (Mike) Tinkham who spent 6 months out of the year with her throughout her childhood. She also had 24 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband of 25 years, Dale H. Baum; her 2nd husband of 10 years, Carl E. Bircher; three sisters, Frieda A. Oberkonz Kinzer, Lucille Oberkonz Youngman, Mildred Oberkonz Henry; three brothers, Ralph E. "Eddie&, Otto, and George Oberkonz; and a stepson, Robert Dale Baum. Ann was a loving and caring person who put family above all. She worked hard to make sure her family was provided for. She was active and independent throughout most of her life. She made lifelong friends and enjoyed traveling to visit with them. Services will be Friday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Home Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Appalachian Community Hospice, 30 Herrold Ave, Athens, Ohio 45701.
