JACKSONVILLE - Elmer D. Ewing, 64, of Second Street in Jacksonville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday afternoon, March 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his girlies, buddy boy and his dog Princess by his side. Elmer was born September 12, 1946 in Zanesville, Oh. to the late Elmer J. and Anna Mae Mozingo Ewing. Elmer was a member of Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18 in Columbus,Oh. since 1966. He was an avid cross country pipeliner all his life travelling with his parents growing up and then on his own. He was a master mechanic for many big pipeline corporations including U.S. Pipeline in Houston, Texas and welded pipeline. Elmer loved travelling with his family by his side but his biggest goal in life was finishing a job and coming home to all his babies. He has many friends and co-workers all over the United States whom he loved as his family. He was also a member of the Concord Union Church. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Evener Ewing; four children, JoAnna (Richard) Burdette, Sherri Bailey, Rachel (Steve) Russell and Mark (Christina) Ewing; 13 grandchildren, Noah Barrett, Jessica, Cady and Lyndee Burdette, Krystal Coe, Nicholas Leppert, Emma and Sophia Bailey, Breanna, Sami, Maddie and Riley Russell, and Alyssa Ewing; two great grandchildren, Miyah and Maxx; his sister, Virginia Ewing of Clearwater, FL; mother-in-law, Josephine Evener; three brothers-in-law, John, Don and Keith Evener; two sisters-in-law, Sheila Antle and Ruth Nicholson. Elmer is also survived by an extension of his family, his dear sweet girlies whom he deeply loved and appreciated, Wendy Banik, April Nottingham, Jamie Metcalf, Rita Bolin and Elaina Sayers. He was so deeply loved and will be missed by all but we will see him again. Services will be Tuesday at 1 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Pastors Joe and Carolyn Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 8 PM. You may send a message of sympathy to the family at www.hughesmoquinfuneralhome.com.
