THE PLAINS - Calvin E. Whiteside, 85, of The Plains, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Ochr(39)Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born Sept 20, 1925 in Bloomfield, Illinois, he was the son of the late James Grant and Grace Pfleuger. He was a US Army Corp Veteran of WWII and a member of The Plains United Methodist Church, American Legion, ATHENS -lks and a life member of the Masonic Lodge. He also was an avid sportsman. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris; four children, Linda Suzanne (Skip) Fuller of Land Ochr(39) Lakes, Florida, Patsy Diane (Rob) Dearing of The Plains, Richard Dean (Linda) Whiteside of Jackson, Carol Jean (George) Adelsberger of Athens; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Memorial graveside services will be at Whiteside Cemetery in Vienna, Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to: The Plains United Methodist Church, 3 North Plains Road, The Plains, Ohio 45780.
