SHADE - Bernice E. Swartz Meeks, 101, of Shade, died Sunday, October 02, 2011 at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 28, 1910 in Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Addie Buck Randolph. She was retired from The ATHENS -ental Health Center with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Albany Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and a charter member of the Shade Community Center and a member of the Grange for over 50 years. She quilted with ATHENS -eniors for many years and was an excellent quilter and took pride in her quilting. She is survived by three daughters, B. Jean Hays of Celina, Roberta (Sherman) Henderson of Alfred, Grace Dorst of Shade; 12 grandchildren, Patricia (Joe) Davidson, Robert (Kim) Montle, Joe (Tammie) Montle, Susan (Terry) Byrley, Dan (Loretta) Hays, Karl Meeks, Kenny (Rhonda) Meeks, Kris Meeks, Kelly (Jessie) Meeks, Craig (Brenda) Dorst, David Dorst, Tammy (Jerry) Foster; 33 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne Swartz, Dawson Meeks; a daughter, Beulah Meeks Allen; a son, Freddie Duane Swartz; a grandson, Michael Montle; a great grandson; eight sisters; four brothers and five sons-in-law. Services will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Blackburn and Father Mark Moore officiating. Burial will be in Garden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM where Eastern Star services will be held at 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Shade Community Center, P.O.
