ATHENS - Jean Holland, 83, of Athens, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at her home. Born March 28, 1928 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late James Hiram and Ethel Hamilton Holland. She was a graduate of Waterloo High School and retired from McBeechr(39)s after 44 years of service. She is survived by nieces, Dea (Dow) and Kelsie Smith; nephews, Dan Young and James W. Holland, Jr.; great nephews, Eric (Kim) and Kyle Young; her best friend, Barbara Withem; her dog Sarah and other cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James W. Holland, Sr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Wilbur Young. A memorial service will be Friday at 2:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Mike Thomas officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Appalachian Community Hospice, 30 Herrold Avenue, Athens, Ohio 45701.
