SHADE - Otis Darrell Guthrie, 71, of Wellston, formerly of Shade, died Wednesday morning, April 27, 2016 at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis. Born August 12, 1944 at home in Guysville, OH, he was the youngest son of Leola Flora Stover Guthrie and the late Ralph Willis Guthrie. He was a 1962 graduate of Shade High School and Dayton Barber College. He had been employed by several area barber shops, lastly as co-owner of Plaza Barber Shop. On July 10, 1966, he married Shelia (Hickel) Guthrie, she survives. They were married 39 ½ years. He was a former member of Shade United Methodist Church, Lodi Grange, Savannah Lodge, having served there as Master, Paramuthia Lodge, Athens and Minear O.E.S. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Tina Marie (Kevin) Coey of Glouster, Theresa Mary (Daniel) Wooten of Pomeroy, and Tamela May (John) Goodin of Albany. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Jacob and Jadyn Coey, Reana Putnam, Ashley, Eric, Alex, and Rebekah Goodin, and one sister, Mary Lou (Jim) Rigg of Wilkesville. He is also survived by an uncle, several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, his only son, Darren Willis Guthrie, a brother, Ralph L. Guthrie, an infant granddaughter, Bethany Kate Goodin, and two nephews, Stan Ragan and Kevin Hickel. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the special people at Jenkins Care Community who lovingly cared for Otis. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home.
