It is with profound love and immeasurable sorrow that we announce the passing of Andrew Matthew Evener, who left this world on Thursday, November 27, 2025, cradled in the arms of those who loved him. Born on June 28, 1978, Andy entered life facing challenges that only the strongest souls are given, yet he faced each day wrapped in God's grace. He had remarkable strength, quiet courage, and a contagious spirit that touched everyone around him. His gentle presence was a constant reminder that every life, no matter how fragile, is a divine gift from God.
Though his time with us was far too short, Andy taught us more about love, patience, and resilience than we ever could've imagined. He communicated in ways that reached beyond words and reminded us daily that every moment, no matter how small, holds beauty and meaning. He spent his entire life surrounded by his family, who cherished him deeply. His parents, John and June Evener, and siblings Johnny and Stephanie, will forever carry the memory of his vibrant presence, his unique way of expressing joy, and the countless ways he touched those around him simply by being here.
Growing up, Andy attended Beacon School in Athens, Ohio. He loved listening to loud music, swimming, dancing, being outdoors, and flipping through the pages of countless picture books. He loved school buses, milkshakes, and taking trips with his family. Most of all, he loved his mother and father wholeheartedly as they gave him the best life imaginable. Andy also absolutely adored his brother Johnny and sister Stephanie, as he would laugh contagiously when they were in his presence.
We take comfort in knowing that Andy's life was filled with the tenderness and the protection of his mother, father, and siblings. He was cared for with an unwavering love throughout his life. We believe with certainty that he is now whole, healed, and held in the loving arms of our Lord. The challenges he carried in this world have been lifted, and now he rests in eternal peace, embraced by the One who created him.
Andy is survived by his loving mother (June) of Athens; his siblings, John Evener II (brother) of Upper Sandusky (wife Selina Evener) and sister (Stephanie Nesius) of Athens; nephews Peyton and Avery Evener of Upper Sandusky; and nieces Isabella Evener and Lola Nesius of Athens.
Andy is recently preceded in death by his deeply missed devoted father, John Lee Evener, who passed away on July 20, 2025, and his nephew Kai Tennison Nesius (Stephanie), who passed away on December 18, 2023.
He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Velma and Holly Hudnell of Athens, and Donald and Mary Jo Evener (*Josephine recently) of Amesville; and by his uncles, Donald "Tink" Evener of Columbus, Keith Evener (recently) of Millfield, and Tom Antle (recently) of Athens.
Isaiah 35:5-6
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.
