Athens - Bernard Browne Spaulding Jr., 79, of Athens, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 12, 2024 at his residence.

Born February 23, 1945, in Athens, Ohio, he was the son of the late Bernard Browne and Bernice Snyder Spaulding.  Bernie was a 1963 graduate of Athens High School and attended Bryn Athyn College in Pennsylvania.  He was a technician for NCR for 25 years and a member of the First Christian Church in Athens.

He is survived by three daughters, Teri Chesser, Ashley Spaulding and Catelyn Spaulding; one son, Rob (Candi) Spaulding; eight grandchildren, Morgan, Marcus, Kira, Layla, Grayson, Maverick, Violet and Bellamy; one sister, Judy (Rob) Markins and his church family at First Christian Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Spaulding.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Athens Memory Gardens with Naomi Calkins-Golter officiating.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 - 1:00 PM at the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens.  Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com.
