Blaine Nelson "Doc" Michael, 76 of The Plains, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in Painesville, OH. Born September 27, 1948 in Athens, he was the son of the late Carl and Maude Thorne Michael.
A 1967 graduate of The Plains High School, he went on to work at Ohio University in the Factory Street Store Room. It's while working at Ohio University he earned his nickname second to "Doc" being "Popcorn Doc" because of his love for eating popcorn. He would later retire from Ohio University after nearly 33 years of loyal service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; daughters, Jennifer Michael, Amanda Michael; grandchildren, Kyle (Jamie Ann) King, Hayden (Kortney) Delaney, Ivy Jo Delaney, Kobe Michael, David Cochran, Dylan Cochran, Timmy McCullough; great-grandchildren, Harper Delaney, Maci Delaney; sisters, Julia (Bob) Scott, Karen Ackison; and "grandpup" Lynne.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Georgia Kail, and brothers, Darius, Bob, Max, and Bolie Michael.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hughes Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 1PM with Pastor Phil Foster officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. You may call upon the family on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 11AM until the start of the service.
