Bonnie L. Wolfe

June 6, 1950 — August 3, 2025

Athens

Bonnie Lyn Mineard Wolfe, 75 passed away at Darst Private Care Home, an assisted living home located in Pomeroy, Ohio, on Sunday, August 3, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1950 in Athens, Ohio.

She was a 1968 graduate of Alexander High School in Albany, Ohio. Then attended Ohio University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Science of Education, later adding her Master's degree. She dedicated her lifetime to teaching, starting near home as an elementary teacher at Albany Elementary School. Most will remember her as their colleague or teacher in Buchtel at Nelsonville-York Elementary School. She retired from teaching in the state of Ohio in 2002. At this time she and her late husband, Robert L. Wolfe (July 17, 2025) moved to Ockeechobee, Florida as part of their retirement journey. As fate would have it she worked at the local school there to help out as a substitute teacher and continued teaching full time for another ten years teaching young minds until finally retiring in 2012. Missing home, they moved back to the Albany/Athens area in 2017. She enjoyed music growing up in school; she played the clarinet in band and was part of the state choir. Many Sundays during her life she could be heard at church playing the organ, piano, or keyboard.

Bonnie had recently become a widow as her late husband Robert Lowry Wolfe had passed away in July. The couple were married on July 25, 1971. Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother Mazie Mineard and father Jesse Mineard.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Alan Wolfe; sister, Becky Bailey; nephew, Steve Bailey Jr.; nieces, Heidi Bailey, Tracy Payne Junker; along with several half sisters and brothers and other extended family members.
