Charles “Chuck” Vandeman, age 74, passed peacefully and returned to the Lord on January 27, 2026.

Chuck was born on February 20, 1951 in Berea, Ohio, to Jack and Jane Vandeman. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BA in Music Education, laying the foundation for a life filled with curiosity, creativity, and meaningful connections.

Chuck met the love of his life, Nancy Vandeman, and together they shared 51 years of marriage, marked by deep commitment, travel, and the joy of raising a family. Music was a constant thread throughout Chuck’s life, and he spent many years working for Roland Corporation, a career that allowed him to merge his passion with his profession. His work took him across the world, including several treasured years living and working in Australia.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Jane Vandeman, and his sister, Jennifer Ashworth.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Vandeman; his cherished daughters Nancy (Brian) Padgett, Mary (Ross) Holter, and Jenny (Drew) Mendenhall; his four beloved grandchildren Weston Holter, Brenna, Bryson, and Evelynn Padgett; dearest brother and sister-in-law Dave and Hope Diggle; devoted friend William “BC” Carr, and a host of chosen family and friends whose lives were deeply touched by him.

Chuck will be remembered for his strong faith, generous spirit, quick wit, warm smile, and unwavering devotion to his family. His humor had a special way of lifting heavy moments and bringing light to those around him. His legacy of love and faith will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.

“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 ESV.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hughes Funeral Home of Athens where a celebration of life will be announced by the family on a later date. Those who wish to sign the online guestbook or leave the family a message of sympathy may do so at www.ehwfh.com.
