David Wilson Smith
Athens - David Wilson Smith, 66, of Athens, died Thursday, March 15, 2026, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens.
Born June 24, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Cecil Gordon Smith and Betty Perry Dickens. David attended Athens High School and was a member the painters Local Union 93 out of Marietta for over twenty years. He had a passion for riding fast on Harley Davidson Motorcycles and owned and operated Dave’s Auto Body in Shade. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, when the Reds were playing, all else stopped. In his spare time he enjoyed playing foosball and tending to his many bird feeders while watching the birds, especially hummingbirds. Everybody who knew David knew he had a big place in his heart for dogs, he was a dog lover.
He is survived by two sons, Smith (Kristina) Puerto and Nathan (Megan) Smith; three brothers, Ronnie, Jeffrey and Michael; one sister, Connie (James) Dishong; his fiance Daisy White and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Smith; one niece, Lauren Smith and a nephew, Trampass Sargent.
A memorial services will be held at a later date to be announced by the family. In lieu of the family requests that donations be made to the Athens County Dog Shelter, 13333 Ohio State Route 13, Chauncey, Ohio 45719. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens.
