Denver Rhodes

August 6, 1949 — December 6, 2025

Coolville

Denver Lee Rhodes, 76, of Coolville, OH passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, with his beloved daughter, Sherri, by his side. He was being cared for by Arcadia Skilled Nursing in Coolville, OH. His family would like to thank them for his great care. In recent weeks, he has been in the care of Hospice. Thank you, Regina and Heather, for helping us navigate the final stages of his life.

Denver was born August 6,1949 to his late parents, Nixola and Donald Rhodes. He will be deeply missed by those left to cherish his memory; his two daughters, Sherri Lynn Rhodes of Vienna, WV and Debra (Jesse) Rhodes-Morris of Pickerington, OH, brothers; Jim (Diane) Rhodes of Jack (Jill) Rhodes and Scott Rhodes (Wilma). Generations of family members, including grandchildren, of whom he was closest to Calvin and Curtis; close friends, and so many good ‘ole boys!

During his time with us here on God’s green earth, he enjoyed just being outdoors, driving through the country breathing the fresh air whether on his motorcycle or just cruising in his car. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes and 4-wheelers, having bonfires, listening to music and just hanging out at his hill side home overlooking the Hocking River and the beauty of his surroundings.

In reflection, when asked what are you up to? His response, “Just takin an easy” and then he would wink. He had a great sense of humor, he never met a stranger, he took great pleasure in helping others. Dad always told us both, “I love you and I have had a good life”. And with these words he spoke to us, we are at peace and know we are going to be just fine! We will cherish all our special memories and the times spent with our Dad! Every time you hear the song, Take Me Home Country Roads, think of Denver and smile.

Everyone that knew him would agree that he was a simple plan, a free spirit, a hippie! Dad was never one to talk about his end-of-life plan. His daughters were left to make tough decisions, we stumbled across this poem, and we knew:

Scatter me softly to the breeze, let me rest among the trees. No stone or grave need mark my place, for I am held in love’s embrace. No need for sorrow, heavy and deep. My soul awoke; it did not sleep. The flame returned me to the skies, where love lives on and never dies. Find me in laughter, warm and true, in ocean tides and morning dew. Speak my name and I am near, in every sigh, in every year!

After cremation, his ashes will be scattered at a private family gathering. A celebration of life to honor our father, will be planned and announced later. Many family photos were destroyed in his mobile home fire years ago, please post and share memories and photos with the family. Services have been arranged by White Funeral Home in Coolville, OH.
