Doris Carder

Middleport - Doris S. Carder, 95, of Middleport, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Arbors of Pomeroy.

Born May 13, 1931, in Hartford, WV, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick Gertrude Edwards Gibbs. Doris was a member of the Middleport Church of Christ and her wishes were to be remembered as a woman of faith. She and Colleen Vanmeter started a widows fellowship with just three members and it grew to about forty widows. They met for many years. Some of her favorite bible verses were Psalm 119:11, Psalm 119:105, Luke 6:31 and First Corinthians 10:13.

She is survived by three daughters, Cindy L. (Larry) McKimm of Hurricane, Utah, Debra J. Carder of Middleport, Ohio and Mandy L. (Dan) Riggs of Sherwood, Oregon and one grandson, Brandon Riggs, of Sherwood, Oregon.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Carder in 1963; one son, Jack Alan Carder in 1993; three brothers, Fredrick W. Gibbs in 1998, Robert B. Gibbs in 2014 and Richard L. Gibbs in 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy with David Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in the Sun Crest Memorial Park in Point Pleasant, WV. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com.
