CHESTER—Esther P. Smith, 87, of Chester, OH, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 24, 1936, in Long Bottom, OH, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Frederick Hayes. Esther was a member of the Chester D.O.A., the Chester Eastern Star and was a U.S. Postmaster.
She is survived by 2 sons, Lowell and Sharon Ridenour and John and Melanie Ridenour; 7 grandchildren, Roger Arix, Keith (Ashley) Arix, Laura (Brian) Jividen, Jason Arix, T.J. (Zhe) Riley, Jacob (Lindsey) Ridenour and Zachary (Ciara) Ridenour; a special great-grandchild, Israel; 10 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; special niece Candy Smith and special caregiver, Lori Bailey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Scottie Smith.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH. Burial will follow in the Chester Cemetery,
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday, from 10 A.M. until time of service.
