Farley Gross
Athens - Farley Roger Gross, 58, of Athens, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 12, 2025 at his residence.
Born January 29, 1967 in Rochester, NY, he is the son of Kathleen Swan Gross Embry and the late Farley Dean Gross. Farley was a 1985 graduate of Athens High School where he was an accomplished athlete and proud Bulldog. He was a 30 year employee of Stageco US in Colorado Springs where he built various stages around the world. The Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Taylor Swift were just a few of the tours he worked on. He loved his wife, family and friends and was very dedicated to them.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kandi Kempton Gross; two sons Nicholas (Jade) Gross and Cory (Madison) Gross; four grandchildren, Ashton, Bear, Raelynn and Jace; nine siblings, Charles (Chuck), Bobby Joe, Patti (Brett) Machamer, Kathy Michael, Elizabeth (Betsy) Stevens, Mia D’Augustino, Roger, Mike, Chris and Joe D’Augustino; a special friend/brother Larry Barnhart; many nieces and nephews and a birthday pal/ niece Molly Stevens.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Nathan Ray Gross.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Hughes Funeral Home, 168 Morris Avenue in Athens with Gary Alton officiating. Burial will be in the Bates Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Hughes Funeral Home. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com.
