Franklin J. Barnes

ATHENS- Franklin J. Barnes passed away on Saturday January 11, 2025, at The Laurels Of Athens.

He was born May 13, 1948, in Athens, Ohio, Son of the late Frank and Edith Petty Barnes. Franklin loved doing anything outside but especially mowing the grass in the summertime. 

Franklin is survived by 2 sons, Timothy James (TJ) Barnes and Jeremy Barnes; 1 daughter, Twanna Barnes; 2 Grandkids; 2 brothers, Joe Barnes and John Barnes; 2 sisters, Louise Varner and Opal Riley; special friends, Vic Mills and Keith (Janie) Westin. 

Besides Franklin's parents, he is preceded in death by 2 nephews; Tony Riley and Luke Riley; 1 brother, William “Bill” Barnes. 

Calling Hours will be held Wednesday January 15, from 3:00-4:00 P.M, at The Hughes Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hughes Funeral Home.
