Gladys Goldstein

Athens - Gladys Goldstein, 93, of Athens, formerly of Roanoke Virginia, died Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Kimes Nursing Home in Athens, Ohio.

Born December 19, 1932, in Roanoke, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Sadie Bell Gregory and Frank George Craft. She grew up in Garden City, Virginia and was a graduate of William Byrd High School. She married her first love Julian S. Fulcher in 1950 and worked for Sydney’s where she managed stores for twenty years. In 1952, at the age of 19, Gladys was crowned Mrs. Roanoke Virginia, and accomplishment she was very proud of. After Julian’s passing, she married Leonard Goldstein in 1980. She and Leonard were the owner/operators of Plantation Pride Bakeries and Bingos Bake Shop. She was a member of the Celebration of Life Church in Starkey, Virginia and was an animal lover. Her two dogs Koko and Angel, bird Miss Cockatiel and beloved cat Beautiful Rose were a big part of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Gary) Fulcher Dixon; two grandchildren, Michelle (Channa) Dixon Desilva and Lisa (Dennis) Dixon Colcci; three great grandchildren, Avery and Brandon Desilva and Arthur Colcci; one brother, Arthur (Mary) Craft; three nieces, Pam, Tammie and Teresa; one nephew, Frank Jr; two special cousins David (Mary) Martin and Evelyn Hylton; special friends, Henry and Linda Milton, Susan Coccia and her longtime mailman, Brain.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Julian S Fulcher and Leonard Goldstein; her son, Julian “Jay” Stafford Fulcher III and one brother, Roger Craft.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Oakey’s Funeral Home, 4257 Brambleton Ave, Roanoke, Virginia. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
