Athens-Glenna Yeager Grim, 94 of Athens passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, April 28 at Kimes Convalescent Center. 

Born June 21, 1929, in Pt. Pleasant, WV she was sixth of seven children of the late Curtis and Zora (DeWeese) Yeager.

Mrs. Grim was a 1947 graduate of Athens High School. She was employed by McBees, Dr. Goldsberry, and retired from Ohio University in 1995. She and her husband, Richard, owned and operated Grim Excavating for over 60 years. 

Glenna and Richard were proud supporters of the Shade Community Center Association. They were lifetime members of the Center and the Shade Community Center Senior Association. Glenna volunteered for many years with Sheltering Arms and O’Bleness’s Toys for Tots Program. She was active in the High-Low Women’s Bowling League and the Ohio Women’s Bowling Association for over 50 years. She was member of the Richland United Methodist Church and Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority.

She loved to travel and gamble; she was blessed to enjoy many meals and laughter with her sisters at the Oak Room and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was known and loved by many as Granny Cool.

She is survived by her daughters: Rita (Ralph) Withem, and Robin (Fred) Wooten, Grandchildren: Tracy (Donald) Russell of Athens, Jazzma (Raymond) Quinn of Amesville, Chelza (Jon) Tyma of  Williamsburg, Rochelle (Craig) Jernstrom of Charlotte, NC, Richard Hunter Krivesti (Jessica Parker) of Athens and Jamie Wooten (Chris Bogard) of Athens, great grandchildren Tyler and Alison Russell, Rileigh Ashley, Simon and Joey Tyma, Max and Lucy Dye and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Besides her parents Glenna was proceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard in 2017 and her son, Richard (Buzz) in 2018. Her siblings and their spouses, William Curtis Yeager, Millie & Earl Hooper, Cora Mae & George Hooper, Ruth & Vaugn Conkey, Emogene &  Emory Coen, Martha Lou & Bruce Bingham and In-laws Helen & Syd Leifheit Carper, Sam & Marilyn Grim, Pauline and Oryn Johnson and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens with Phil Foster officiating.  Burial will follow at the Athens Memory Gardens.  Friends may call on Friday evening from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm at the Hughes Funeral Home.
