Pomeroy - James Calhoun Carter, 78, of Pomeroy, died Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV.
He was born July, 6, 1947, in Marietta, Ohio. James was a lifelong handyman who could build or fix anything. He especially enjoyed carpentry. James enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
He is survived by one son, James Carter Jr; two daughters; several grandchildren and his close friend Dencil Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 2018 and one brother.
James wishes were that there be no public services. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy.
