James Lefever Gillespie

     James Lefever Gillespie, 77, of Nelsonville, died in his sleep on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

     Born March 13, 1946, in Dover Township, Athens County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Michael E and Margaret West Gillespie.  Jim was well known in the community and loved by all who knew him.  He was a regular at Tammy’s Country Kitchen and a fan of the chicken noodle dinner.  Jim loved to go fishing, listening to country and western and gospel music. He enjoyed singing in the choir and lived life to its fullest.  He loved everyone he met and called everyone “Buddy”.  Jim attended Goodwill Industries, Sech-Kar Day Services and the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church.

     Jim will be deeply missed by his brother and housemate William (Bill) and his girlfriend of several years.  

     Jim will be missed by all his friends, caregivers and his staff and friends at ResCare.  

     Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Andy Stine officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville, Ohio.  

    Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
