John Lynn Damewood
REEDSVILLE—John L. Damewood, 76, of Reedsville, OH, went home to be with the Lord on February 21st, 2026.
John was born in Gallipolis, OH, on April 23rd, 1949, to the late Wallace and Myrtle Damewood.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda (Evans) Damewood of Reedsville, OH; a daughter, Angela (Michael) Barker of Washington, WV; a son, Kevin (Angie) Damewood of Reedsville, OH; two granddaughters, Hannah Damewood (Ray) of Mebane, NC and Miranda Barker of Washington, WV; a sister, Yvonne Stover of Middleport, OH; a sister-in-law, Tammy Fitch of Columbus, MS; a step-father-in-law, Gordon Hellwig of Reedsville, OH and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best pet friends Max and Snuggles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kareen (Kenneth) Dobin, Mary Lee (Vernon) Maxey and William Stover; his mother-in-law, Wilma Hellwig; a sister-in-law, Debbie Mirgon; one great-niece, Victoria Grace Maxey and several aunts and uncles.
John was a 1967 graduate of Eastern High School. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #9053. After he served in the Army, he worked at Goodyear Chemical in Apple Grove, WV for several years. After leaving Goodyear Chemical, he continued his career for over 20 years in the Ready-Mixed Concrete Industry in the Mid-Ohio Valley. In the year 2000, with his wife Linda, they opened New Generation Tanning Salon in Little Hocking, OH, which they operated for 20 years. Upon retirement, he worked part-time for K&E Plastic Pipe and Trailer Sales in Tuppers Plains, OH.
He was a member of the South Bethel Community Church. He was a man of great faith who loved his church family and community by offering his time and help wherever it was needed. His hobbies and interest included his love for John Deere tractors, farming, gardening, camping, hunting and tinkering around the garage and farm.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, Feb. 28th, 2026, at White Funeral Home in Coolville, OH, with Bryan and Melissa Dailey officiating. Burial will be in the South Bethel Community Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday, from 4-8 P.M.
