Joseph “Chad” Eddy passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025. Chad was born on January 1, 1976 in Athens, Ohio. He was the first child born on New Year’s Day in Athens for the year 1976.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Geri and Mark Mitchell, his sister Leslie (Kevin) Davis, and his step-sisters Michelle (Dave) Lemmon and Suzanne Justice.
He is also survived by his nieces Karli Davis and Bailey Davis, his step-nieces Kate Lemmon, Isabella Russo, and Mayzie Justice, his grandniece Blair Davis, his aunt Sandy Baker, and his cousins Brad Baker, Brian (Shelly) Baker, and Blaine Baker
Chad graduated from Athens High School in 1994 and enjoyed playing baseball during his time in school. He worked as a tattoo artist and as a cook at the Union in Uptown Athens. He also worked as a cook at Lui Lui’s Restaurant and at Jackie O’s Bakery. He loved to cook and excelled at it, both professionally and personally.
Chad was an avid video game player. He enjoyed playing games with people from all over the world. He also loved the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed talking about sports, movies, and all types of rock music. Chad had a very welcoming personality and he never met a stranger. He was a kind, friendly, loving, and gentle person.
There will be a Celebration of Chad’s life at Hughes Funeral Home in Athens on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 3PM - 5PM. The family is requesting no flowers or arrangements, but to please donate to your favorite charity in Chad’s name instead.
