Athens - Juanita Coon Boyd, 89, of Athens, passed away Sunday August 23, 2026 at her home.
Born December 25, 1936, in Athens, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Mary Belle McDaniel Sycks . Juanita was a graduate of Chauncey Dover High School and a life member of the Poston United Methodist Church. She was very active in the church and was a devout Christian. Juanita retired from State Auto Mutual Insurance Company as an administrative assistant.
Juanita cherished the time that she spent with her family and the memories that she created will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
She is survived by one son, Scott (Valeria) Thompson; six grandchildren, Jason (Crystal Lee) Sites, Gene (Dawn Smark) Sites, April Thompson, Andrea Thompson, Bailee Coon, Ben Coon, Jenni Reed, Kim Reed, and Jon Reed; great-grandchildren, Averi Sites, Lexa Thompson, Connor Wilkinson, Preston Sites, Kaley, Ansley, and Kinsley Nusen, and Zane and Reed Taskey; one stepson, Steve (Jennifer) Coon; brother, (Buddy) Harold (Sande) Sycks; one sister, Carolyn (Reuben) Rickard; two nieces, Vickie (Bill) Elliott and Jeanna (Kris Reeves) Sycks; one nephew, Kevin (Amy Van Dyke) Rickard and one aunt, Ethel Mae Bird.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children’s father, Clifford L. Thompson; her previous husbands, Willard Coon and Robert Boyd and one daughter, Karen Sites.
Juanita blessed everyone’s life who knew her and prayed that God would bless others.
Graveside services will be at held at Alexander Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with Pastor Chris Smith officiating.
