PARKERSBURG—Katherine Fryar, 54, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

She was born Feb. 6, 1972, in Parkersburg, WV, daughter of the late John and Geraldine Wilson Merrill. Katherine was a 1990 graduate of Alexander High School and retired from

Lowes in Athens. She loved spending time with her family and going to the beach.

She is survived by a daughter, Samantha Fryar; son, Steven (Ashley) Fryar; 3 grandchildren, Mollie, Mason and Carson; brother, Frank (Vicki) Merrill; 3 sisters, Louise Pennington, Twyla (Terry) Nogrady, Jonetta (Jeff) Niggemeyer and her fiancé, Clay Manheim.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Carr; sister, Elma Castle and 2 brothers-in-law, Harold Pennington and Harold Castle.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 P.M., Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Shade Community Center, 2380 Old US Route 33, Shade, OH 45776
