Athens - Kathleen Rose (Swan) Gross D’Augustino Embrey, 79, of Athens, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 25, 2026 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
She was born March 5, 1947, in Schenectady, New York, to Eugene Raymond and Helen Virginia (Kirk) Swan
Kathy was truly a unique individual who lived true to who she was whether anyone else approved or not. With her spirited temperament she really did give life a good ride. Growing up in a large family, her nickname “Queenie” spoke volumes to understanding her personality and character. She loved life with all her heart and gave it her all. Her family was first and foremost while bingo came in a close second along with Chinese auctions.
She is predeceased along with her parents by three husbands, Farley Roger Gross, Joseph Dominick D’Augustino and William Russell Embrey; Beloved sons, Nathan Ray Gross and Farley Roger Gross; Dear Grandsons, Clifton Farley Stevens and Jordan Keith Boyer; Siblings, Virginia Jeanne (Swan) Brightman, Elizabeth Ruth (Swan) Farrell, Michael Kirk Swan and Sheila Maureen (Swan) Manza.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Kathy Janette (Gross) Michael, Elizabeth Mary (Gross) Stevens and Mia Helene D’Augustino; Stepchildren, Chuckie, Patty, Bobby-Jo, Michael and Roger; fifteen grandchildren, Geneva, Eliza, Jeremiah, Kyle, Natilee, Nathan (George), Madison, Nicholas, Cory, Molly, Neal, Patrick, Steven, Dylan and Dalton, along with twenty-seven great grandchildren; her siblings, Janet Helen (Swan) Liszewski of Schenectady, NY, Carol Joanne Swan of Rochester, NY and Bonnie Claire (Swan) Richards of Coral Springs, FL and many, many nieces and nephews. All of whom will feel a definite void in their lives with her passing.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens with Gary Alton officiating. Burial will be in the Bates Cemetery in Athens. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com.
