Keith Allen Harter, age 69, of Pomeroy, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and love that will never be forgotten .Keith Harter was born December 25, 1955, in Columbus Ohio
Keith was a hardworking man who lived life his own way on his own terms. In his early years he was a volunteer firefighter, a proud police officer for Wellston PD in Racine Ohio, he was the best fish cleaner in Lake Erie, an adventurous truck driver - He was the TRUE Recycling KING — never afraid of hard work, long hours, or getting his hands dirty. He could fix, collect, haul, and hustle, and he always had a story to go along with it.
Keith was known for his one-of-a-kind sayings that his family and friends will forever hear in their hearts: “Kick it on back to ol daddyo from Flada baby come on” No matter where he was, Keith always claimed Florida as home, proudly telling anyone who would listen that he was “from Florida,” even if life had taken him far from there. Even telling nurses he was taking fishing trips on his naps.
He was most proud of being a father, and his kids were his world. Keith is survived by his 4 children, Kathleen "KC" Harter, Rachel "Buddy" Harter {John Brown}, Audra "Angel" Harter, {Ronald Buford}, and Keith "Hammer" Harter II {Megan “Ol Red” Houghton}, who were the center of his world. His love for them was deep, fierce, and constant, even when life was not always easy. He also had 19 grandchildren, Keitha { Pappy's Girl} Wilbur, Christopher Duhl, Sydni Roell, Maleah Duhl , Tamara Willis, Aubrey Nelson, Andre Chandler, Keith Harter III, Kaden Harter, Izmyel Mohamed, Kilynn Harter, Kasen Houghton, Kristian Harter and Kashton Harter; 4 great grandchildren, Nevaeh and Nilani Wilbur, Thomas and Solomon Haney; and many others he called family that was not his own.
Keith lived with grit, humor, and heart. His personality filled a room, his laughter was contagious, and his memory will remain strong in every story told about him.
Keith is Proceeded in death by his mother, Audrey G. (Buckler) Ray; stepfather, Fred E. Ray, Sr.; father, Melvin Eugene Harter, Sr.; brother, Ronald E. Harter; sister, Cassandra K. Combs; 5 angel grandbabies; and 1 great grand angel baby.
He will be dearly and deeply missed and never forgotten by so many!
