Kevin Lee Criner, 56, of Athens, Ohio, passed away after a prolonged illness on August 20, 2023. He was born on November 1, 1967, in Pomeroy, Ohio to Charles and Avis Criner.

Kevin was a 1986 graduate of Meigs High School and furthered his education at Hocking College and Ohio University, where he studied History.

Kevin was proud of his stepdaughters and grandchildren, often sharing stories of his visits with them and their activities. He was an active member of his recovery community and much loved by friends from all walks of life.

Kevin was a vibrant individual who found joy in various online communities. He was an active member of Ultima Online Forever, World of Warcraft, and The Why Files. Known for his amusing stories told in a radio announcer's voice, Kevin had a talent for making hilarious comments and convincing people with his spontaneous concocted tales, all while maintaining a cool and calm demeanor. His wit and humor brought joy to those around him.

Beyond his online adventures, Kevin had a passion for karaoke. His singing voice had the power to evoke deep emotions in his listeners, creating memorable moments for everyone involved. He enjoyed making music and sharing his talents with friends. 

Kevin is survived by his wife Kathy Criner, his stepdaughters Clarissa Slater, Nicole Holland and Gloria Holland, and grandchildren Austin, Caroline and Dawson. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Avis Criner.

Kevin will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the communities he was a part of. His warm personality, quick wit, and ability to bring laughter to any situation will be cherished in our memories. 

A celebration of life for his family and friends will be held later in the fall. Contributions to cover the many end-of-life expenses can be made care of the Hughes Moquin Funeral Home where services have been entrusted.
