Athens - Kimberly Ann Barnes, 52, of Athens, formerly of Vinton County, died unexpectedly Monday, August 17, 2026, at her residence.
Born July 4, 1974, in Logan, Ohio, she was the daughter of Jerry and Martha Coleman Ousley. Kim was a 1992 graduate of Vinton County High School and proud to be from “The County” and she later graduated from Hocking College with a degree in nursing. She worked for the Ohio Department of Corrections for twenty years as a nurse and was presently working for Ohio Health in Athens at the Castrop Health Center in the Urology Department. Kim’s biggest joy in life was reaching out and helping people both in the medical field and in her personal life. She made many, many friends in her daily ventures. She enjoyed the ocean, vacationing in Myrtle Beach and her precious grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her companion of twenty years and husband of ten years Christopher Barnes; four children, Ashley (Thomas Campbell) Rose, Hannah (Brady Yonker) Rose, Saveah (Neal Lucas) Barnes and Logan Barnes; three grandchildren, Paisley, Payton and Delaney; one brother, J.D. (Kelly) Ousley; one sister, Heather Ousley and many special dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Reynolds; ; her aunt June Coleman and grandmother, Mary Bolton.
Visitation will held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens.
