Kristin Dale Crump (Smeeks)

Kristin Dale Crump (Smeeks), age 53, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at her home in Ashley, Ohio, surrounded by loving family and friends.

Kristin was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving with honor from 1993 to 1997. Following her military service, she pursued her passion for language and literature, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The Ohio State University in 2003, graduating summa cum laude.

She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and unwavering kindness. Kristin had a deep love for writing, quilting, and the open road—often found riding her motorcycle alongside her cherished group of girlfriends. She was a loyal and generous friend, always ready with a listening ear, a helping hand, or a good laugh. Her creativity, adventurous spirit, and compassionate heart touched the lives of many.

Kristin is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen; her mother, Rhonda (James) Dougherty; her brother, Ryan (Mendy) Smeeks; her sister, Kara (Casey) Henry; nephew Tyler; and grandmother Patty Poling. She was also a loving stepmother to Elizabeth Morton, Stephen, and Joseph, and a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Smeeks, and grandfather Ronald Spitz.

Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A funeral mass will be held at 11AM on Thursday, October 30th, at the Saint John Neumann Catholic Church in Sunbury, Ohio, with Father Daniel Dury officiating. There will be a funeral service held on Friday, October 31st, at 1PM, at the White Funeral Home, in Coolville, Ohio, with Pastor George Horner officiating. Military graveside services and burial will follow in the Stewart Cemetery in Hockingport, Ohio. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 11AM until the time of the service. All arrangements are being handled by the White Funeral Home in Coolville.
