Lucille Atherton

Lucille Helen Atherton, 91, of Longbottom, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. She was born on February 18, 1935, to Roy Russell Johnson and Mabel Elizabeth Trimble.

Lucille was a devoted Christian whose faith was an important part of her life. She cherished her family deeply and found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and watching her family grow through the generations. She also loved fishing and taking vacations, creating many cherished memories along the way.

Lucille shared 72 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Clarence Lowell Atherton. Their life together was a testament to enduring love, commitment, and family.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Lowell Atherton; daughters, Diane Nicholson and Debbie Atherton; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Russell Johnson and Mabel Elizabeth Trimble; her son, Larry Allen Atherton; and dear friends, Herold and Ruth McDaniel.

Lucille will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and the many years of memories she created with those she loved. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave and the family she helped build will remain for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held at 4pm on Tuesday, Aug. 11th at White Funeral Home in Coolville, OH, with Pastors Todd Barlow and Wally Parker officiating. Burial will follow at the Hemlock Grove Cemetery in Pomeroy, OH. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2pm until the start of the service.
