Mark Eugene Walls

Mark Eugene Walls, age 67, of Athens, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2025. Mark was born on November 8, 1957, in Athens, Ohio, to the late Melvin Walls and Carol Hunter-Simpson.

Mark took pride in all the work he did, especially his 30 years as a mechanic with the Athens County Engineer’s Office. He also proudly served the community as a valued member of the Chauncey-Dover Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. Mark had a passion for fishing, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and taking road trips with Ruthanna.

He is survived by his life partner of 21 years, Ruthanna Albright; his son, Michael (Jessica) Walls; his stepdaughter, Heather (Brent) Whaley; and his grandchildren, Riley Walls, Regan Martin, and Shelby Whaley. He is also survived by his sisters, Debra (Lenny) McKibben, Jody (Avery) Fluharty, and Terri Walls-Jones; his brothers, Randy (Kathy) Walls and Steve Walls; and beloved friends who were like family: Don Joyner, Bradley Stancil, Ricky (Kathy) Gilden, and Mark (Pam) Douglas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin, and his mother, Carol.

The family will announce a future date for a celebration of life. We are so thankful for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers. Mark was nothing short of remarkable, and we will carry his spirit with us always.
