Mary Ellen Britton
RUTLAND-- Mary Ellen Britton of Rutland, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 18, at Kimes Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born March 24, 1945 in Hamilton County, Ohio, but raised in Vinton County daughter of the late Irvin L. and Winnie (Ankrom) Rinehart.
Mary graduated from Allensville High School in 1963, and lived most of her life in Vinton and Athens Counties.
Mary was a life member of the DAVA #45 and VFW Auxiliaries and was twice Commander of DAVA #37 and DAVA State POW flag bearer from 1995-1996.
Mary worked at the Goodyear Logan Plant for 2 years and TS Trim Industries Athens Plant for 15 years.
Mary is survived by sons Robert L. Denney, Jr. (Mardi Harms) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Arthur C. Willard II (Michelle Willard) of Rutland, Ohio; nephew Joe Newlun; grandchildren Dianne Ridenour (Casey Ridenour), Benny Willard, and Robbie Denney; step grandchildren; great grandchildren; and many other family and friends who loved her dearly.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; brother Ernest L. Rinehart (Korea 1951); husband James S. Britton; sons James Denney and Christopher Boyd Willard; stepdaughter Hope Britton Gilliand; and stepson James C. Britton.
Visitation will be Friday, February 23, from 5-8 at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 24, at 11:00 at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with burial to follow in New England Cemetery.
