Mary Carsey

Athens - Mary Carsey, 85, of Athens, died Friday, May 23, 2026, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens.

Born April 18, 1941, in Sinaloa, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Barbara Barber Hayes. Mary graduated from Independence High School in Missouri before migrating to Athens, Ohio. She worked for many years at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens where she was one of first X-ray Technicians.

She is survived by one sister, Francis Campbell; one nephew Tommy Campbell; one niece, Emily Karmazin and her sister-in-law, Linda Shiller.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Jeff Carsey.

Private graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens. Ohio.
