Nathan Michael Dowler

Athens - Nathan Dowler, 39, died unexpectedly, Monday, July 20, 2026 at his residence.

Born October 6, 1986, in Athens, Ohio, he was the son of Todd (Edlynn) Dowler and Polly Bailey (Mark) Rosser. Nate was a 2004 graduate of Alexander High School and employed as a truck driver. To say Nate was an avid outdoorsman would be an understatement. He loved to hunt and fish and he shared that passion with his two daughters by his side. He killed many trophy deer and caught stringers full of keepers. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors he could be found riding his Harley Davidson with his buddies. He loved his Harley’s. He had many friends, had a big heart and didn’t know a stranger.

Along with his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Cora and Callie Dowler; three brothers, Nick (Jeanie Miller) Dowler, Arron Sedwick and Wyatt Rosser; four sisters, Shelly (Zach) Reynolds, Carrie Rosser, Casey (Brandon) Huff and Myana Rosser; his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Delores Bailey; one nephew, Grayson Reynolds, one cousin, Tiffany Dowler; one uncle, Scott (Kathy Jackson) Dowler; and his best friend and the mother of his daughters, Courtney Swart.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Linda Dowler.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Athens Memory Gardens in Athens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens. The PVH Christ Riders will be holding a benefit run at a date to be announced to help with expenses and his daughter’s future endeavors.
