Opal Zerkle Betz

Opal Esta Norris Zerkle Betz was born in 1928 in Letart Falls, Ohio. She was the daughter of Ross and Marie Norris. After her graduation from Racine High School, she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Richard Zerkle, of Hartford, West Virginia. The birth of their three children followed, Bill, Sandy, and Jocelyn. They were married for almost 30 years until his death in 1977. She was later married to James Betz, of Gallipolis, Ohio, until his death in 2020.

Opal then moved to Michigan to live, where she made many friends and enjoyed her new home. She passed away on May 9, 2025 at the age of 97.

Opal leaves behind three children, William Richard (Emrys) Zerkle, Sandra Lee (Raphael) Marroquin, and Jocelyn Topping, as well as six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband, William Zerkle, at Letart Falls Cemetery.
