Wendell H. White
Athens - Wendell H. White, 87, of Athens, died Monday, August 5, 2024 at his residence.
Born August 21, 1936 in Athens, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lawrence L. and Bernice Young White. Wendell was a 1954 graduate of Athens High School where he starred in baseball earning first team All-Ohio honors as a shortstop. He had a passion for playing fast pitch softball and also enjoyed bowling and golf. Wendell was the owner of White Construction in Athens for over fifty years.
He is survived by one daughter, Terri Allbaugh; a brother-in-law, Gary Sams, and two sisters-in-law, Sheila Parmiter and Debra (Bill) Walker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Linda Sams White, in 2013; three brothers, Oscar, Dean and Dwayne and one sister, Vera Jean Ayers.
Friends are invited to join the family for graveside services at Clarks Chapel Cemetery in Athens on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Shirley Dailey officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made online to Fairhope Hospice at its donation page.
