William “Bill” Cooper

Millfield - William “Bill” Cooper, 77, of Millfield, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio.

Born June 11, 1948, in Athens, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Violet Keirns Cooper. He was a 1966 graduate of Ames Bern High School. Bill worked at CE Glass in Lancaster for twenty-eight years and would later retire from Ohio University. He enjoyed deer hunting with his father, trap shooting and spending his summer evenings at the Jaycee Fields in Athens playing softball for the Barons Men’s Store team.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Donna Carson Cooper; one daughter, Melissa (Matthew) Woodrum; one son, William Cooper Jr; seven grandchildren, Tiffani, Tanisha (Josh), Colten (Marisela), Abigail, Baylor, Owen and William Robert; ten great grandchildren, Ethan, Brynlyn, Reece, Maximus, Waylon, Tobias, Declan, Logan, Ila and Grayson and his Uncle Bud.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio with Stanley Strode officiating. Burial will be in the Hilltop Cemetery in Millfield, Ohio. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com.
