COOLVILLE—Wilson J. Putman, 80, of Coolville, OH, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at his residence.
He was born July 20, 1944, in Morgansville, WV, son of the late Woodrow and Mary (Clem) Putman. He worked road construction with his uncles, brothers, brothers-in-law, sons, sons-in-law and nephews. He was a self-employed carpenter, building houses from 1977-1991 and retired in 2006 from IUOE Local 18 in Columbus and MP Dory in Columbus. Wilson loved working in the garden and teaching his grandkids about gardening.
In addition to his parents, Wilson was preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie Eugene, Burl and Jim Putman; sisters, Thelma and Joe Lantz, Edith Henderson, Dorothy and Mike Lance and Connie and Jerry Saylor; brothers-in-law, Roger Rood, Jack Rood and Leonard Barber; great-granddaughter, Jemma Marshall and several nieces and nephews.
Wilson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances L. (Rood) Putman; two sons, Wilson II and Benjamin Putman; three daughters, Sherri (Roger) Bissell, Crystal (Tim) Loscar and Tammy Putman; two brothers, Don and Marlene Putman and Denver “Dale” and Rebecca Putman; sisters-in-law, Ruth Putman, Bonnie Putman and Shirley Barber; brothers-in-law, Terry and Debbie Wilson, Mike and Dianna Wilson and John Henderson; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, June 12, 2025, at White Funeral Home in Coolville, OH, with Pastor Rick Bourne officiating. Burial will follow in the Stewart Cemetery in Hockingport.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 6-8 P.M.
